How Far Is It From the Slopes?
Nepal Dining sits about 6 kilometres from Furano Ski Resort, in Nakafurano — roughly 15 minutes by car on a normal winter day, and an easy stop on the way back to Kamifurano, Biei or your accommodation. There is free parking on site, which matters more than it sounds when you are still in ski boots and the car is full of gear.
We are not inside Furano city itself. We are in Nakafurano, the next town along the valley, which is why the drive is short but the prices and the atmosphere are noticeably more relaxed than the resort strip.
Why Curry After a Day on the Mountain
A full day at Furano burns through a lot of energy, and the cold does as much of that as the skiing. What you want afterwards is something hot, salty and substantial that arrives quickly. Soup curry does exactly that — it is a Hokkaido speciality for good reason, and it is close to the ideal recovery meal after a day in the snow.
What to Order After Skiing
Soup curry is the obvious first choice — a thin, spiced broth with vegetables and your choice of chicken or vegetables, and you set the spice level yourself. Butter chicken is the other favourite with skiers: rich, mild and warming, and it goes well with a family sharing several dishes.
Order the naan fresh from the tandoor — we bake it to order, and cheese naan in particular tends to disappear fast at a table of hungry skiers. Momo, Nepalese steamed dumplings, make a good starter while the curries are being prepared.
Halal-Friendly and Vegetarian Options
Nepal Dining is halal-friendly. To be clear about what that means: we are not a halal-certified restaurant, and we will not tell you otherwise. What we can do is prepare a great many of our dishes without pork or alcohol, and our staff will tell you honestly what is in anything you ask about. Please mention your requirements when you order.
Vegetarian visitors are well covered. Vegetable curries, dal, mixed vegetable dishes and vegetarian momo are all on the regular menu rather than hidden away as substitutions, and the same applies — ask us and we will tell you exactly what is in a dish.
Hours, Winter Driving and Booking Ahead
We are open 11:00–15:00 for lunch and 17:00–21:00 for dinner, Tuesday to Sunday. We close on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, so it is worth checking before you set out. Last orders are before 21:00, which is earlier than many visitors expect after a late afternoon on the slopes.
Roads in the valley are cleared regularly but they are snow-covered for most of the season, so allow more time than the map suggests and use winter tyres. In peak ski season, and especially for groups, please call ahead on 0167-44-2444 or book a table online — a full restaurant and a hungry group after dark is not a happy combination.
