A Small Town With a Full Kitchen
Most people meet Nakafurano by accident. They come for Farm Tomita in July, or they drive through in February on the way between Furano Ski Resort and Kamifurano, and the town registers as a few minutes of road between two better-known names. It is smaller than Furano and quieter than Kamifurano, and that is most of its appeal.
It also means that when you decide you are hungry here, the options are finite. Nepal Dining has been cooking in Nakafurano since 2019, and this page is the practical version of what visitors usually want to know: what we serve, when we are open, and how to find us.
What We Serve
Nepalese and North Indian food, cooked from whole spices, plus Hokkaido-style soup curry. Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken are the two most-ordered curries. Momo, the Nepalese steamed dumpling, is the dish people come back for and the one most likely to be new to you. Naan is baked to order in the tandoor rather than reheated.
The dining room seats around sixty, walk-ins are welcome, and the staff speak English. Vegetarian dishes are on the standard menu, and we are halal-friendly — not halal-certified, and we say so plainly, because the distinction matters to the people who ask.
Lunch or Dinner in Nakafurano
Lunch runs 11:00 to 15:00 and is the quieter service, which makes it the better one if you are travelling with small children or want to talk to the staff about ingredients without a queue behind you. Dinner runs 17:00 to 21:00 and in ski season the first hour after the lifts close is the busiest stretch of the day.
We are closed on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, and open on the first, third and fifth — worth checking against the calendar before you drive, because it is the kind of detail that catches people out.
Finding Us: Station, Farm Tomita and the Road to Furano
We are at Akatsukimachi 3-19 in Nakafurano. Nakafurano Station is about 1.4 kilometres away, a short taxi ride or a walk when the pavements are clear. Farm Tomita is a few minutes by car in summer. Furano town and Furano Ski Resort are both about six kilometres south, near enough fifteen minutes on a normal winter road, and Kamifurano is a similar distance north.
There is free parking on site. In winter that matters more than it sounds, because the alternative in a small Hokkaido town is usually a snow-narrowed street.
Booking, Groups and Takeout
Walk-ins are fine most of the time. For groups of more than four, or any evening in ski season, call ahead on 0167-44-2444 or use the reservation form on this site. Takeout is available if you would rather eat back at the accommodation, which in deep winter is a perfectly reasonable preference.
